Terms & Conditions Public Transport

PART A: SPECIAL SECTION – Public Transport E-ticket Terms and Conditions

  1. If the App User books a public transport ticket via the uMOB App, these public transport E-ticket terms and conditions apply to this booking and to the use of this ticket.
  2. The App User enters into a transport agreement with the relevant carrier(s). uMOB is not a party to this agreement and therefore not responsible or liable for delays, cancellations, changes in the timetable, incorrect information or other problems in the performance of or concerning the transport agreement.
  3. Once a public transport ticket has been booked, it cannot be returned and will not be refunded.
  4. The public transport E-ticket (hereinafter referred to as “E-ticket”) obtained via the uMOB App is only a valid ticket if all of the following conditions are met:
    • An E-ticket is only a valid ticket with the carriers stated on the E-ticket.
    • An E-ticket must be loaded in the uMOB App on a mobile device (mobile phone or tablet) in accordance with the instructions upon purchase.
    • An E-ticket is personal and non-transferable. All travellers from the age of 12 must show a valid identity document with photo (passport, identity card or driving licence) during a check. The name on the identity document must match the name on the E-ticket.
    • An E-ticket must be kept up to and including the exit of the destination station.
    • An E-ticket is a valid transport ticket only if it can be clearly displayed in the uMOB App on a mobile device (mobile phone or tablet). This requires sufficient screen size and quality. E-tickets that are poorly displayed, illegible or edited may be rejected and considered invalid.
    • If an E-ticket cannot be displayed correctly during a check, for example, due to malfunctions in the mobile device (mobile phone or tablet) or because it has not been charged, it is not a valid ticket.
    • An E-ticket must be purchased before the start of the journey. An E-ticket purchased after the start of the journey is not a valid ticket.
    • For journeys in the Intercity Direct over the HSL (high-speed line) between Rotterdam Central and Schiphol Airport (or vice versa), an Intercity Direct surcharge applies in addition to a regular ticket for the relevant route. See below under “Additional terms and conditions E-ticket Surcharge Intercity Direct”.
    • For journeys on the domestic route of Intercity Brussels – in addition to a regular E-ticket for the relevant route – an Intercity Direct surcharge applies if the IC Brussels runs on the HSL (high-speed line) between Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam Central (or vice versa). This is indicated on the departure boards on the platforms. See below under “Additional terms and conditions E-ticket Surcharge Intercity Direct”.
    • For journeys on the domestic route of ICE International – in addition to a regular E-ticket for the relevant route – an ICE surcharge applies. See below under “Additional terms and conditions E-ticket Surcharge ICE”.
    • An E-ticket is not valid on Thalys, Eurostar and Nightjet trains. An international ticket is required for this.
    • Every traveller needs their own E-ticket. Multiple people cannot travel on one E-ticket simultaneously.
    • Depending on the ticket, additional terms and conditions may apply, as indicated below.
  5. It is the responsibility of the App User to comply with the stated terms and conditions. uMOB does not accept any responsibility or liability for this.
  6. Carriers are entitled not to accept an E-ticket as a valid ticket in the event of misuse or improper use.
  7. An E-ticket does not entitle a traveller to a seat.
  8. These terms and conditions apply in addition to the general terms and conditions of transport of the relevant carrier that carries out the transport, which can be consulted on the website of the relevant carrier. Additional terms and conditions E-ticket Full Fare and E-ticket Off-Peak (train)

  1. An E-ticket Full Fare and E-ticket Off-Peak is only a valid ticket for transport by train on the route, on the date and in the class stated on the E-ticket
  2. A one-way E-ticket Full Fare and E-ticket Off-Peak can be used once. A day return E-ticket Full Fare and E-ticket Off-Peak can be used once for the outward journey and once for the return journey.

  4. An E-ticket Off-Peak is only a valid ticket during the off-peak hours stated on the ticket. Outside of these off-peak hours, an E-ticket Off-Peak is not a valid ticket. This means that both the start and the end of the journey must be within these off-peak hours. However, if a traveller was unable to complete the journey in question during off-peak hours due to a delay of the train carrier(s) for which an E-ticket Off-Peak is valid, an E-ticket Off-Peak also constitutes a valid ticket for the extra travel time outside off-peak hours caused by the delay.
